| Customer Reviews: Great Guide April 8, 2010 Craig B. Pearson (Pittsburgh, PA) This book is great to look at, the jacket and the hardcover book itself are well designed with great images that really say "Rapture". The guide itself is well written providing an in-depth walkthrough, background information, multiplayer guide, and complete achievement/trophy list. If you want to enjoy everything BioShock 2 has to offer get this book to go with it. Comes with two of a set of four awesome lithographs, I got Jhonen Vasquez's "The Sisters" and "Subject Delta" by Boris Vallejo & Julie Bell. Great art by great artists, and well worth purchasing the special edition guide to get.
Delightful March 23, 2010 Parka (Singapore) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2YQESP5CDJNSB The Special Edition is 208 pages of good quality somewhat matte paper in a hardcover, with a pretty nice paper wrap around. Somebody at Brady did pretty good work on the layout and presentation of the book, and it's not your typical full-of-text boring monotonous walkthrough. Well, it still covers all the bases and of course the various tips, tricks, weapon upgrades and locations for audio diaries and such.
The book is present in a sort of 80s comedy style with plenty of little monopoly-seque arts littered through the book. As most of you guys would know, most of the walkthrough and tips for the more popular games can be freely gotten online, so any guide book that professes to be either "collector" or "special editions" has to offer something more than the mundane.
The BioShock 2 special edition guide passes this quite adequately, though not with flying colours. ( My favorite guide book so far is still the Assassins Creed II collector edition).
The tone of the guide is witty and light, unlike the usual dull chatter of lesser guides. There are enough side illustrations to keep it from becoming boring, though most of the awesome art is featured in the art book that comes together with the special edition of the game instead, so don't be expecting the usual concept arts segment at the back of the book. That said, the included illustrations in the book are pretty detailed and well worth the time to appreciate.
All in all, a pretty well detailed and delightful guide. I would have preferred it if Brady had thought to include one of those little "table of contents" on the sides of the pages to make looking for particular segments easier.
3.5 out of 5 stars.
Excellent Guide March 5, 2010 D. Pullin (Scottsdale, AZ USA) The Bioshock 2 Ltd Ed Strategy Guide is a great book. The hard cover ensures it will out last any other paperback guide. The guide is great to have even if you don't play the game. The artwork and illustrations are well done and enjoyable to look at when browsing through the book. The Hardcover Limited Edition Guide is bundled with 1 of 2 sets of collectible lithographs. I didn't get the set I wanted but that is what the word 'random' means anyway. The guide reads easily and covers all the secrets and other extras you will want to know about while playing the game. Each section of the guide includes a map of the area that makes playing easier by displaying areas that are sure to have enemies waiting for you. The Bioshock 2 Limited Edition Strategy Guide is worth it and you won't find a cheaper price anywhere else but here on Amazon.
A GREAT BOOK BUT... March 3, 2010 DAMIEN 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a great book, the information is accurate, the pictures are cool, and the lithographs that comes with the book is a nice addition for the hardcover edition (not limited). However, it's not worth paying for the hardcover edition.
When I received the book the front cover says "special edition" not limited; therefore, the print run for this book is not small. Also, Bradygames did not include additional content for the hardcover edition, it has the same content of the standard edition. The only difference is the hardcover and the two lithographs.
The book has great content: information on the splicers, weapons for single player campaign and multiplayer, every audio diary, etc. This book will help you to get the platinum trophy (getting all the trophies in the game).
In conclusion, the content is great but I recommend to get the standard edition.
Guide done right February 16, 2010 Dean Levengood 5 out of 10 found this review helpful
It's beautiful to look at, well written, and gives you more than just how to play the game.
