Encyclopedia Big-Planet-ica September 9, 2010 Pyanfar Chanur (USA) When my daughter and I started really getting into Little Big Planet, we decided it was time to invest in a good book. The "Little Big Planet Super Book" by Brady fits the bill very nicely: not only does it go into great detail for both the PS3 and PSP versions of Little Big Planet, each level has been carefully photographed and the layouts cleanly mapped, with notes on gameplay. While I really enjoy Little Big Planet, not all of the levels are always clear on what you're supposed to do. I particularly noticed this playing some of the opening levels on the PSP version. This guide was useful to answer some of my questions.
There are drawbacks: on the one hand, not every level has been captured here. But on the other, there are so many levels in Little Big Planet now that according to Playstation Magazine, if you were to spend 3 minutes playing each level, it would take you 71 years to get through them all!
If you want a good guide to either the PSP or PS3 versions of Little Big Planet, this Super Book is a Super Buy. It's colorful, it's written for children to be able to read it without dumbing it down for an adult, and I appreciated Brady's attention to detail.
The LBP Superbook tells you where all the items are and how to create your own levels for PS3 AND PSP July 11, 2010 EJ845 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Let me start off by saying that the Little Big Planet Superbook is huge - 540 pages to be precise. It tells you the location of every item in the game and gives you colorful maps to use as guidelines. Can you find this information online? Probably, but I wouldn't want to.
Moreover, it tells you the ins and outs of creating your own level. Creating levels (good levels) in Little Big Planet is a time-consuming task. True, the game will take you through several tutorials to learn (for example) how to increase the strength, speed, and timing of your piston. However, there are so many tools in LBP that oftentimes I forget what I have at my disposal. The book offers its own instructions on how to use these tools, rather than having to revisit the game's tutorial every time I have a question.
As an added bonus, this strategy guide takes you through both the Playstation 3 and PSP versions of the game. This is great for those who own both games. This is an excellent guide that should address all of your questions regarding LBP.
great guide at a great price May 16, 2010 H. Speaks (halethorpe,md usa) what can i say? i love the game and needed the guide to get the most out of the game...and it didn't disappoint.
Great Game May 1, 2010 Charles Sido (New Jersey) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This has got to be one of the greatest games to ever come to PlayStation 3. My Grand Children and I have been playing it every day for about three weeks now and just can't get enough of it. If you like a challange this is the game for you. Try it. You'll like it.
This thing is huge! February 24, 2010 Nittany Roar 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This guide is huge! Weighing in at over 10 pounds and over 500 pages, it features big colorful photos and walkthroughs for every level. It covers everything you need to know about both the PS3 and PSP versions of the game, plus some select downloadable content.
The crown jewel of the book is the 80+ pages devoted to the "Create" aspect of LittleBigPlanet. Starting from the basic elements needed to get familiar with creating a level to really getting in depth with the amazing creation tools at your disposal, this guide has you covered. It even gives step by step instructions to build a specific level and challenge level. Very useful for getting a real feel for the level creator. It's laid out nicely for PSP users too. When a specific tool or mechanic is used in the same way for the PSP as PS3, a little PSP icon appears next to that section. If the controls and tools are different, a separate feature is written just for the PSP. Very, very, nice.
The book itself is just a treat to flip through. Like I said before, it features big colorful photos and some really nice artwork inside. If you are a LittleBigPlanet fan (safe to assume you wouldn't be reading this if you weren't!) do yourself a favor and get this guide, you won't regret it.
